The first ESPN300 for the 2015 class was released Wednesday by the four-letter network.

Three Florida commitments and more than two dozen targets are featured in the rankings.

The future Gators who made the list, all from Jacksonville, were Tyler Jordan (103rd overall, No. 8 OG), Tristan Payton (132nd overall, No. 15 WR) and Deontai Williams (188th overall, No. 14 S).

Several recruits in the top 50 have been offered by UF and shown heavy interest in the school.

The biggest names are offensive tackle Martez Ivey (2nd overall), defensive ends Byron Cowart (5th overall) and CeCe Jefferson (9th overall) and receiver George Campbell (11th overall).

At this time, Florida is believed to be the favorite for them and hosted all four in-state prospects this spring.

The Gators are also in great shape for linebackers Jeff Holland (24th overall) and Roquan Smith (32nd overall), both of whom visited Gainesville recently as well. UF is in contention for quarterback Deondre Francois (47th overall) and running back Jacques Patrick (48th overall).

Here are some other notable and realistic targets for Florida in the ESPN300:

  1. Great reporting, Zach. I think that the top 5 targets you mentioned will all be Gators come February (Ivey, Cowart, Jefferson, Campbell, & Holland). From what I’ve read and their comments about the program they all love UF so far. What a haul that would be if it all comes to fruition. Keep it up! GO GATORS!!!

  2. we obviously have a great shot at landing byron…. but he’s already named oregon his leader… hope matt jones and alvin bailey can help seal the deal… we already missed out on striker years back from armwood when he decided to go to OU

  3. No. 196 QB/DT Dwayne Lawson 6-5 210 Tampa – Hillsborough

That is the one that is needed, and like so many from the
‘Big Red’ before him, he wants to be a Gator. The rest are
    prolly just someone else’s gatorbait…. :~))

  4. Have any of you watched any film/video of Torrance Gibson? He’s mediocre at best at the QB position. It’s why so many teams are looking at him playing another position. He only wants to play QB but can’t play QB at the next level.

  5. I realize recruiting is important but there is a lot more to success on the field. Just ask Ron Zook, one of the best recruiters in college football history. Would like to see some other blogs written especially if Muschamp doesn’t win more games this year 2015 recruiting is going to change big time.

  6. Alabama strikes again. They get four more, including two from Florida, that everybody wanted. It looks like everyone else is vying for second place again. Alabama being first in recruiting rankings is becoming a broken record. UF is actually second, on average,so it’s time to see this year if the coaches can coach, because recruiting hasn’t been the problem, unless they are taking the wrong guys by just looking at the number of stars and not digging deeper in to whether the guy is over-hyped. That seems to be the case with the quarterbacks the Gators have taken since Tebow. There was Brantley and Driskel, I don’t think that either lived up to the hype, at least not yet in the case of Driskel. Now there’s Grier, I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that he was expected to at least be the backup coming out of Spring, but Morningwheg seems to have secured that spot for now. I think that’s the biggest disappointment coming out of Spring because fans were so desperate to see him do well. Like Driskel, Grier may be a guy who shined against inferior competition in high school, that doesn’t translate to the next level.

  7. Before Tyler Murphy decided to transfer, Grier was expecting to red shirt. I think Grier is still considered a viable back-up except that Skyler Morningwheg stepped up his game. This is almost universally agreed upon by all the writers and coaches that Morningwheg has been a lot better than expected. Still Grier is competing, but I think Skyler’s development has made the red shirt option possible, since that was Grier’s preference from the get go. I think it’s a little twisted to say that all Florida QB’s after Tebow were over-hyped, since there are onkly two and the jury is still out on one. Also, Brantley and Driskel were both recruited by Meyer for the spread option, but ended up being force-fit into Muschamp’s pro-style. I think Driskel doing better this spring has a lot to do with him getting back into his natural offensive scheme. I think Brantley was a victim of changing offensive coordinators and injuries.

  8. The Gators will have a very good year this year. If we stay relatively healthy we could have a great year! Our QB’s are going to have an excellent season as well. As the season moves along, Coach Roper’s offense will ROCK! Our defense will be top of the SEC again, with much improved special teams play! Get on board! Go Gators!! Oh, and our recruiting will be just fine! As is always! GO GATORS!!

  9. It would be awesome to get a third player from Apopka on the board to possibly accompany Chandler Cox and Martez Ivey. Teammate and WR James Crider has put on 20 lbs of lean muscle in the #NoOffSeason. This kid is 6’2″ @ 190lbs with a legit 10 1/4″ handspan. Clutch player that knows how to read defense.
