Tampa Hillsborough quarterback Dwayne Lawson attended Florida’s Junior Day last month to watch film with new offensive coordinator Kurt Roper and learn about his system.
On Saturday, he saw it first-hand.
Lawson attended UF’s third practice of the spring, and its first in pads.
“It was fun,” Lawson said. “It was my first time coming out for a practice, so I had a good time.”
The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder liked Roper’s up-tempo attack, and he thinks it will help the Gators in 2014.
“It was fast,” Lawson said. “He goes at an quick pace, and it’s a good system. Hopefully we win a lot of games this year, and I know we will.”
The ESPN300 member, who recently competed in the Elite 11 quarterback competition, currently has Florida leading Ohio State, Tennessee and UCF.
Roper is a big reason why.
“He’s a great guy,” Lawson said. “I know that from just talking to him. And he can coach, so that’s a great combination. I would love to play for him.”
