Five-star offensive tackle Martez Ivey and fullback Chandler Cox attended Florida’s spring practice Friday, their first trip to UF since visiting for Junior Day.

The Apopka teammates continue to build a strong comfort level in Gainesville.

“I’ve been up here so much, it’s almost like home,” Ivey said. “It’s just amazing to be up here.”

Added Cox, “It was awesome. I always love coming up here. It just feels right.”

Ivey, ranked the No. 1 overall prospect by Scout, enjoyed spending time with the players and new offensive line coach Mike Summers.

“I got to be around them a lot more,” Ivey said. “I went in the meeting room and learned about what their offensive line is based off of. It was pretty sweet.

“Coach Summers is very outgoing. He’s an energetic guy, and he’s into what they’re doing. He’s coaching hard.”

For Cox, who holds more than a dozen offers, the highlight of his visit was watching practice.

“They have great coaches, and the intensity is there,” Cox said. “You can tell they’re trying to win with the atmosphere of the practice, and they’re going to win with the way they’re coaching. Being around them was fun.”

Cox (6-2, 220) and Ivey (6-5, 265) visited Alabama and Auburn in February and have no other trips scheduled at this time.

While Ivey doesn’t plan on announcing until after his senior season, Cox hopes to make a decision soon. He admits that committing to Florida crossed his mind Friday.

“Yeah,” he said. “There’s a part of me that wanted to, but I just want to wait a little bit longer and see other places.”
