The Gators hit South Florida on Tuesday to see pair of visitors from this past weekend as well as some of their top 2015 targets.
UF coach Will Muschamp conducted in-home visits with Miami Booker T. Washington quarterback Treon Harris (Florida State commit) and Plantation American Heritage receiver Isaiah McKenzie.
Both are big fans of offensive coordinator Kurt Roper and the new system he has brought to Gainesville.
Two of McKenzie’s 2015 teammates, quarterback Torrance Gibson (6-4, 195) and cornerback Tarvarus McFadden (6-3, 190), were also seen by Muschamp.
Gibson is the No. 1 priority at his position for Florida next year, while McFadden, a five-star recruit and Rivals100 member, is close friends with Quincy Wilson but has not received an offer from UF yet.
Here are some other 2015 prospects who were visited Tuesday by the Gators:
RB Eric Swinney, 5-10, 185, Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek (Rivals100)
TE Devonaire Clarington, 6-5, 220, Miami, Fla./Westminster Christian (Rivals250)
LB Ricky DeBerry, 6-2, 237, Richmond, Va./St. Christopher’s (Rivals100)
ATH Jaason Lewis, 6-2, 233, Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes (Rivals250)
ATH Jaquan Johnson, 5-10, 172, Miami, Fla./Killian
DeBerry, a U.S. Army All-American, visited UF in August.
Man I love Florida!!!! I can’t wait to get back gatornation Ricky DeBerry (@TheFranchize__) January 21, 2014
Sounds good! Zach I’ve been hearing that Carter and Autry really have been leaning towards being a package deal. Correct me if I’m wrong but it seems Florida is the only school that would make sense for them to go to the same place. You’ve said Carter is down to UGA and UF. From what I can tell the pups aren’t even recruiting Autry. Also it’s well documented that Autry loves Grier and with the love UF has been showing him lately his interest in us has grown. Doesn’t seem like there’s really any school currently recruiting both that actually has a chance with both except us. Wouldn’t you think this gives uF and edge?
Lets wait and see I geuss. Not enough room in this class.
college hoops is what everyone should be talking about now. Donovan is doing a great job does the gville sun ever write about the aussie open? Wawrinka match with djokovic was amazing
Shariff this is FOOTBALL recruiting blog. Want to hear about other stuff, got to the other sections or do a google search. Not that hard
who recruits what areas outside of Florida?
want some basketball news. An FSU recruit was arrested for eating pot. Now back to Football, Zach is it fair to say we are working at securing the 2015 class at the same time we are closing on the 2014 class? Is the new recruiting coordinator busy looking at 2015 class? or is he helping with the 2014 class? Just curious if there seems to be a new strategy in recruiting this year over the past that you have noticed?
Great news & great work as usual, Zach! Sounds like Deberry wants to come to Gainesville. Hey AZ Gator-let’s hope for your scenario to come to fruition. I think they would be great additions to an already stellar class. GO GATORS!!
If the players we are after commit, Muschamp will find room for them. If it means over-signing, so be it. We need to stop doing things with one hand tied behind our back. If other schools, like Bamer, are going to get away with it, then we should do the same. The only difference – I don’t see Muschamp doing dirty things to recruits.
Kevin – the coaching staff are doing the same things they have been doing. They were actively pursuing 2014 recruits, while closing the 2013 class. I don’t see the new strategy you referred to.
Recruiting juniors is not something new for the Gators. I would guess that the Gators are having another junior day coming up soon, as it has seemed to be pretty successful.
Wow – it is going to be an interesting couple weeks. Who gets the final few spots.
Shariff, um… this site is called GATORsports.com for a reason… Try the 4 letter network if you want to read about the Aussie open, they have a whole page listed as TENNIS… & Kevin Brockway’s Blog talks all things Gator basketball related…
Keep the great work, Zach!!
Sharif, you talkin about tennis? Tennis. Come on man…This is the South, and Football is king 24/7 365!
Is Mckenzie an option?? I think he would be a beast in this new offense and he won’t get utilized to his full potential in South Bend
Fleet Southern athletes thrive most when they play in the very fast SEC or for other big programs in our region that emulate our best. McKenzie might flourish anywhere but it sure would be fun watching him fly downfield as a Florida Gator.
Why are they looking at another qb? We get Driskel back and we have Grier and just picked up Proctor coming in. Shore up the offensive line, that is our need.
McKenzie reminds me alot of Brandon James. I really hope the coaching staff can land this guy.
IS UF going to get anyone other than Sousa at wideout? UF recruited a ton of highly touted receivers last year, are the coaches not worried about wide receiver because they are confident a couple of them will actually play well this year?
So any news on Lauderdale? Zach I know you’re thinking ASU but have any of the coaches visited him recently?
