More out-of-state visitors this weekend

After hosting three out-of-state visitors in as many days this week, Florida will bring in some more on Saturday.

The Gators received visits from Kingsland (Ga.) Camden County cornerback Kalvaraz Bessent on Tuesday, Demarest (N.J.) defensive end Andrew Trumbetti on Wednesday and Monroe (Ga.) Area athlete Stanton Truitt on Thursday.

Bessent named UF his leader afterward, Trumbetti said the best part of his trip was trying on one of Florida’s national championship rings, and Truitt was officially offered by the Gators as a slot receiver.

This weekend, Florida will host defensive back Edward Paris (Arlington, Texas/Mansfield Timberview) and Carrollton (Ga.) teammates Cole Cook and Dontavius Russell.

Paris is rated a five-star prospect by 247Sports and ranked No. 38 overall in the Rivals100. Though he is listed as a safety, UF and other schools are recruiting him at cornerback.

Cook is a 6-foot-6, 230-pound tight end prospect, but he has no offers at this time. Russell, however, is a consensus four-star defensive tackle who has been offered by Alabama, Auburn, Florida and Georgia, among others.

  1. Zach- Since Florida will have far less scholarships to offer, do you see UF’s class to start filling up faster than last year? UF seems to be leading with a number of kids and that’s a good sign. Muschamp doesn’t let any grass grow under his feet. This class could end up being much better than last year’s class.

    • GIGator,
UF will be more selective with accepting commitments, but because of fewer spots, yes I do think the class will fill up somewhat sooner. As was the case in the last cycle, it should be close to complete weeks before singing day.
