Last Sunday marked the beginning of the Contact Period, which runs from Nov. 25 to Feb. 2.

During this time, college coaches are permitted to have face-to-face contact with recruits or their parents, stop by their high schools, attend their games/practices and call or write them. Schools are given six in-person, off-campus visits through Feb. 3 and no more than one can take place in a single week. National Signing Day is Feb. 6.

There are a few breaks in the coming months for quiet and dead periods, some of which pertain to early enrollees and JUCO prospects. For information on these recruiting periods and FAQs, click HERE.

Rolin was in Gainesville from Friday through Sunday following Durkin's in-home visit Wednesday. (Photo from Rolin's Twitter account)

Days after UF linebackers coach D.J. Durkin had an in-home visit with him, South Carolina LB commit Matt Rolin made a surprise trip to Florida over the weekend. Rolin committed to the Gamecocks back on May 25 and nearly his entire family, including both parents, graduated from the school.

However, the Gators were his second choice and they never stopped recruiting him. UF commits Jordan Sherit, Keanu Neal, Nick Washington and Ahmad Fulwood, who know Rolin from The Opening, were all in Gainesville on Sunday and spent time with him before he left. national recruiting analyst Mike Farrell traded texts with Rolin afterward and the Under Armour All-American told him he has a tough decision to make following his ACL surgery this week. Rolin added that he’s not doing interviews at this time, but expect something to happen soon because he’s an early enrollee.

  1. When do the EE have to pretty much announce. I know some guys who said that were going to be EE are no longer going to be like Lane. Can you share who you know are to be EE for UF? And who on the board may be considering FL and will be an EE?

    • The UF commits enrolling early are RB Kelvin Taylor, OL Tyler Moore, DT Darious Cummings, DL Joey Ivie, LB Daniel McMillian and S Marcell Harris. The UF targets enrolling early are OL Trenton Brown, DE Ebenezer Ogundeko and LB Matt Rolin. I didn’t get a specific reason from Adam on why he didn’t enroll early, but I would assume the amount of extra school work and his team’s playoff run was too much for him. It is for a lot of recruits.

  2. Zach, don’t EE’s count toward the prior year’s recruiting class? If so, that’s 6 commits and 3 targets that wouldn’t count toward the 2013 scholarship limit. If so, how many can the Gators take over the “graduating + already short on players + early to NFL” count?

    • GHD,
If you’re referring to FB Kennard Swanson, he has not committed to Florida yet. He plans to during or immediatley after his official visit on Dec. 13, but it’s not a done deal yet. AND, UF might not be willing to take him just yet.
