Dillard ready to see The Swamp with Dawson

Canton, Mich., offensive lineman Cameron Dillard is the lone Florida commitment officially visiting UF for the South Carolina game.

This weekend will be Dillard’s third trip to Gainesville and he still has one thing left on his to-do list.

“I’ve pretty much done everything,” Dillard said. “The only thing I haven’t seen is a game. So I’m fired up. I haven’t heard the 92,000 roaring, so I’m looking forward to it. Two great teams going at it this weekend and I couldn’t be more excited.”

Dillard will be joined by his close friend David Dawson, the nation’s No. 1 offensive guard who decommitted from Michigan this past Sunday and is also officially visiting this weekend.

“I can’t wait to show him around campus,” Dillard said. “Max Garcia is our host and he’s become a good friend of mine since we met at Friday Night Lights. So it’s gonna be fun to be down there with David and share that experience with one of my best friends. Hopefully I can get him to join me.”

Dillard committed to Florida on April 9, two days after attending the Orange & Blue Debut. He grew a Gator fan in North Carolina.

“When coach Muschamp gave me an opportunity to play for the Gators, I jumped right on it,” Dillard said. “I couldn’t thank him enough for giving me that opportunity as well as the rest of the coaching staff for having the belief in me that I’ll be able to get the job done.”

The 6-foot-3, 290-pounder, rated a four-star recruit by ESPN, has been blown away by Florida’s 2012 season thus far.

“I can’t say enough about how impressed I am,” Dillard said. “Coach Davis, the offensive coach, he’s done great things for the O-line this year. They’re going to continue to do great things and I’m just so glad to be a part of that next year. Coach Muschamp and the team are definitely on the way to a National Championship.”

  1. I”m really glad to see so many smart, well-spoken, young men signing up to be Gators. Smart players get better, and it says a lot about the kind of program Muschamp wants to build that those are the kind of players he’s after.
    Right on, right on.
    Go Gators!

  2. I’m betting recruiting this kid turns into a “two-fer” with Dawson who will hear the crowd, feel the crowd’s passion and it’ll make him want to jump on board the “Muschomp Train.” The good looking co-eds and the weather will only help seal the deal.

  3. I couldn’t agree more Doug, every interview that I have watched Zach do with our incominng class has been impressive, with bright and well spoken young men.
it just keeps getting gooder and gooder in titletown! bring on “gameday” and those carolina yardbirds, our gators are hungry!
    Nothing greater than a Gator!

  4. I know Tunsil is coming back for another visit but I really am tired of entertaining this guy for nothing. Just tell T. Brown to commit and lets move on with other recruits already. Very Happy to have Dawson, but I would have loved to have Denson more.
