Maye says UF leads for five-star WR

Marcus Maye is rooming with Nelson Agholor at the Under Armour practices.

If only walls could talk.

The close friends have discussed recruiting all week and on Tuesday, the Florida safety commit revealed a piece of info from one of their conversations.

And it’s a biggie.

“It’s definitely been fun,” Maye said of rooming with the five-star receiver. “We’ve known each other for awhile and we’ve been talking a lot this week. He mentioned that Florida was his top school and I was just excited to hear that news.”

Agholor has already taken official visits to Florida, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and will make two more trips to Florida State and USC.

Maye knows anything can happen between now and National Signing Day, but he’s confident the Berkeley Prep star will be a Gator.

“We’re just waiting to hear what his final decision is,” Maye said. “I have no idea who he’s gonna pick in the end, so I’m in the same boat as everybody else. But I feel good about (him choosing) Florida.”

For that to happen, Maye said Agholor needs to see one more thing from UF.

“He’s pretty much just waiting on an offensive coordinator (to be hired),” Maye said. “He’s set with everything else. He’s been to Florida a bunch, he gets along with all the players and he knows that coach Muschamp loves him to death.”

The Under Armour All-Americans have been friends since they were 10 years old and have a close relationship according to Maye. If both of them wind up in Gainesville, the four-star safety believes they can do big things with their chemistry and leadership.

“We’re great people on and off the field,”¬†Maye said, “and that’s what makes a great program. Florida’s known for that and I think we could help the program get back on top.”
