Those are the three biggest priorities for Will Muschamp in the 2012 recruiting class, and this weekend could help him address each area of need.
The Gators are hosting two JUCO linemen and the teammate of wide reciever Nelson Agholor.
Florida has the best shot at landing offensive lineman Pierce Burton, who comes to Gainesville from City College of San Francisco (Calif.). Muschamp offered the 6-foot-7, 290-pound prosect in November and UF immediately became one of his favorites.
With four official visits already in the books (West Virgina, Indiana, Kentucky and Ole Miss), the Gators get the last shot at Burton before he makes his decision next week. The deadline for junior college players to sign and enroll early is Dec. 21.
Four-star defensive tackle Visesio Salt won’t be making the jump from the JUCO level until this summer, but he’s well worth the wait. At 6-foot-3, 340 pounds, he is the No. 2 rated prospect at his position by Rivals.com and hails from Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif.
Salt has the size, strength and skills to play right away and that’s exactly what Muschamp needs inside. He’s already made two visits (Utah and Cal) and will take two more officials (Oklahoma and Miami) before he commits in January.
The last official visitor this weekend is Berkley Prep linebacker Schyler Miles, who was offered as a fullback on Dec. 7. Miles is best friends with Agholor and a commitment by him will only help UF in its pursuit of talented five-star from Tampa. The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder went to Notre Dame last weekend and is scheduled to travel to West Virigina on Jan. 13.
