After checking out Florida’s Junior Day on Saturday, Venice lineman Omari Phillips decided that he’s firmed up with his commitment to the Gators.

Even though he committed to Urban Meyer and the former staff, Phillips said he feels very comfortable with new coach Will Muschamp and his new crew. Phillips reaffirmed his commitment and even found out where Florida’s new staff will be lining him up in 2012.

Playing both offensive and defensive line at Venice, Phillips said he’ll be a defensive tackle at Florida. Getting to play defense is a reason Phillips felt better about his situation at Florida.

Phillips said he didn’t do any recruiting while on campus. Outside of spending the majority of his time with Florida’s coaches, Phillips had a full day of touring and getting better acquainted with his future surroundings.

“It was good,” Phillips said of his visit. “I got to spend a lot of time with the coaches, so it was great.”
