Here’s what Gator recruits did over the weekend. Check out the new additions to Florida’s commit list.

FLORIDA VERBALS

Quarterback
Jeff Driskel — Driskel threw for 246 yards and added 77 yards on the ground. He also had four total touchdowns in Oviedo Hagerty’s 30-27 win over Oviedo.

Running back
Mike Blakely — Say hello to Florida’s brand new commitment. Even with two bad ankles, Blakely carried the ball 14 times for 67 yards and two touchdowns. He also had a 32-yard touchdown pass in Bradenton Manatee’s 35-6 win over Riverview.

Fullback
Hunter Joyer — Joyer rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns in Tampa Cathloic’s 30-6 win over Cardinal Mooney

Tight end
A.C. Leonard — Leonard has been suspended for the rest of the season.

Wide receiver
Ja’Juan Story — Story didn’t have the most productive night. He went 1-of-2 passing for 5 yards, carried the ball seven times for 13 yards and a touchdown and converted a two-point conversion in Brooksville Nature Coast’s 35-28 win over Citrus.

Javares McRoy — Still bothered by an injury and didn’t play in Lakeland’s 43-13 win over Osceola.

Defensive line
Jeoffrey Pagan — Pagan recorded two sacks and recovered a fumble in Asheville, N.C.’s, 27-0 win over Roberson.

Defensive back
Louchiez Purifoy — Another big night for Purifoy as he passed for 122 yards, ran for 140 and registered 110 kick return yards with three total touchdowns in Pensacola Pine Forest’s 34-17 win over Pace.

De’Ante Saunders — Saunders ran the ball 23 times for 72 yards and two touchdowns in DeLand’s 27-7 win over Deltona 27-7.

Valdez Showers — Showers had 48 rushing yards on 15 carries, and five receptions for 82 yards. He also had a 74-yard touchdown reception in Madison Heights, Mich., Madison’s 41-13 loss to Port Huron.

RECRUITS OF INTEREST

Running back
Mike Bellamy (Clemson) — He’s officially off Florida’s radar, but he was finally slowed down last week, rushing for 123 yards and two touchdowns in Charlotte Punta Gorda’s 36-7 win over Lakewood Ranch.

Savon Huggins — Huggins carried the ball nine times for 176 yards, including a long of 79 yards. He also finished with four rushing touchdowns in Jersey City, N.J., St. Peter’s Prep’s 49-0 win over Memorial.

Matt Jones (2012) — Jones finished with 136 yards rushing, 39 yards receiving and four touchdowns in Seffner Armwood’s 34-15 win over Hillsborough.

Wide receiver
Kelvin Benjamin — In his final high school game (he officially exeeds the age limit), Benjamin had five catches for 80 yards and a touchdown in Belle Glade Glades Central’s 53-0 win over Boynton Beach.

Sammy Watkins — Watkins had seven catches for 113 yards in South Fort Myer’s 43-10 win over Fort Myers.

George Farmer — Farmer caught seven passes for 133 yards and three touchdowns in Gardena, Calif., Junipero Serra’s 34-7 win over St. Paul.

Defensive line
Todd Barr — Barr had 10 tackles, two sacks and caught a 6-yard touchdown in Lakewood, Calif.’s, 42-28 win over Jordan.

Linebacker
Lamar Dawson — Dawson carried the ball five times for 21 yards and two touchdowns, caught two passes for 15 and registered a handful of tackles in Danville, Kent., Boyle County’s 28-13 win over East Jessamine.

  1. I heard FL State is sniffin around Chandler Register, QB from Lambert High School, in GA this past weekend. Gators should take a hard look at this rising junior before he commits to another school as I heard he is a Gator at heart. Just sayin.

  2. What does getting Blakely mean for the Gators? Is he the back we’ve been waiting for? Is he the piece to help turn the corner of this class or is he just a solid addition? Was Blakely a concession to not landing Bellamy or Wilder or is he just as promising?
