UF-UK recruiting visits

Saturday’s game with Kentucky marks the first real recruiting weekend for Florida’s staff. Most of Florida’s commits will be in attendance (as always), while a few of Florida’s top uncommitted prospects will be in Gainesville as well.

I’ve compiled a list of guys expected in attendance. This isn’t an official list and I’m sure there are a few more guys who will make it in by the 7 p.m. kickoff.

Florida commits
QB Jeff Driskel (Oviedo Hagerty)
FB Hunter Joyer (Tampa Catholic)
WR Ja’Juan Story (Brooksville Nature Coast)
WR Latroy Pittman (Citra North Marion) 2012
LB Ryan Shazier (Plantation)
CB Nick Waisome (Groveland South Lake)
CB De’Ante “Pop” Saunders (Deland)

Prospects of interest
RB Matt Jones (Seffner Armwood) 2012 — He’s a big back who just tore up Friday Night Lights in July.
LB Tony Steward (St. Augustine Pedro Menendez)
DE Curt Maggitt (West Palm Beach Dwyer)
DL Quayvon Hicks (Blackshear, Ga., Pierce County) 2012 — He’s another guy who looked like a beast at FNL.
CB Terrance Mitchell (Plantation)
DB Chris Johnson (Ocala Trinity Catholic)

Also, Scout.com Recruiting Analyst Chad Simmons tweeted today that Clemson commit and Daytona Beach Mainland running back Marlin Lane will be at the game Saturday. Florida was on him very early. It’ll be interesting to see if Florida starts to creep back into the picture for him now that he’s getting to a game.

There’s also a Gator commit hitting the road this weekend. Jacksonville University Christian tight end A.C. Leonard will be officially visiting Nebraska. He’ll also be at Alabama for the Bama-Florida game next week. Leonard has always said he’d take his official visits, but he says he’s still very committed to Florida.

  1. Edward, great job as usual. Which 2011 commits do you expect to be early enrollees this January. Also, what is the Florida Staff’s opinion of guys like AC Leonard taking other visits and could him doing that help us land a kid like Nick O’Leary?

  2. Hey Edward, ALways enjoy reading your recruiting information. The last video; you may be better off to avoid this guy in the future. He was a dork, and would not let you speak. Who wanted to hear him and his uncool comments. Did I say that he was a dork?

You almost appeared to be embarrassed to be there with him. I don’t wonder. Hey, Keep the good stuff coming. Robert

  3. I actually met Curt Maggitt walking down the street after the Kentucky florida game. He told me his name and it wasn’t until after I had walked away that I realized who he was. With his former team mates Matt Elam and Gerald Christian playing for florida, I really think he will be a gator. This was a really good game for these recruits to be at. I’m just hoping tony steward liked what he saw.
