Here’s a look at what some of Florida’s commits and targets did over the weekend.


Jeff Driskel — Driskel lost his first game of the season, as Hagerty fell to Sanford Seminole 28-14, but he finished the game 9-of-21 passing for 145 yards and a touchdown and added 45 yards on seven carries. He had one rush that went 46 yards earlier in the contest.

Hunter Joyer — Joyer carried the ball nine times for 29 yards in Tampa Catholic’s 48-7 loss to Ocala Trinity Catholic.

Tight End
A.C. Leonard — Leonard had two touchdown catches in University Christian’s 33-14

Offensive Line
Trip Thurman — Though he’ll play offensive line in college, Thurman played some at defensive line where he had three tackles, including a sack, and forced a fumble in Dover Del.’s 41-6 win over Glasgow.

Wide Receivers
Ja’Juan Story — At quarterback Story was 7 for 12 for 130 yards and a touchdown. He carried the ball seven times for 23 yards and caught one pass for 39 yards in Brooksville Nature Coast’s 31-14 win over Crystal River. He had two touchdowns, including one returned off an interception.

Javares McRoy — McRoy caught three passes for 40 yards in Lakeland’s 42-7 win over Tenoroc.

Defensive End
Jeoffrey Pagan — Pagan recorded a sack and a deflected pass in Asheville, N.C.’s, 21-14 win over Sun Valley.

Defensive Backs
Nick Waisome — Waisome totaled 112 all-purpose yards and had a 22-yard touchdown reception in Groveland South Lake’s 34-10 win over Leesburg.

Louchiez Purifoy — Purifoy carried the ball 11 times for just 27 yards, but had a 5-yard touchdown run Pensacola Pine Forest’s 17-14 loss to Niceville.

De’Ante Saunders — Saunders tore it up again in the backfield running the ball 11 times for 144 yards and threw a 30-yard touchdown pass in Deland’s 21-7 win over Seabreeze.


Running Backs
Mike Blakely — Blakely carried the ball 21 times for 154 yards with four touchdowns in Bradenton Manatee’s 31-24 win over Bradenton Southeast.

Mike Bellamy — Talk about efficient. Bellamy ran the ball only five times for 196 yards with four touchdowns that went for 50, 45, 34 and 58 yards in Punta Gorda Charlotte’s 62-6 win over Mariner.

Savon Huggins — Huggins carried the ball 20 times for 123 yards and a touchdown. He also caught one pass for 28 yards in Jersey City, N.C., St. Peter’s Prep’s 21-17 loss to St. Joseph Regional.

Tre Mason — Mason only played in the first quarter, but he rushed the ball five times for 110 yards and two touchdowns in Lake Worth Park Vista’s 60-0 win over Boca Raton Spanish River.

Wide Receivers
Kelvin Benjamin — Benjamin caught five passes for 93 yards in Belle Glade Glades Central’s 20-18 win over American Heritage.

George Farmer — Farmer caught four passes for 102 yards in Gardena, Calif., Serra’s 35-13 win over Mira Costa.

Tight Ends
Jay Rome — Rome had five catches for 88 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning 15-yard touchdown recepiton for Valdosta, Ga., in an overtime shootout that ended with a 64-62 over Brunswick.

Brandon Fulse — Fulse had a 2-yard touchdown run in Fort Meade’s 35-0 win over Mulberry.

Junior Pomee — Pomee caught a 10-yard touchdown pass in Moreno Valley, Calif., Rancho Verde’s 48-14 win over Yucaipa.

Tony Steward — Steward didn’t do much on offense or defense in St. Augustine Pedrol Menendez’s 36-14 loss to Bartram Trail, but he did have a 95-yard kick return for a touchdown at the end of the first half.

Curtis Grant — Grant recorded 16 tackles in Richmond, Va., Hermitage’s 14-3 win over Meadowbrook.

Lamar Dawson — Dawson lined up at running back, tight end and linebacker. He ran the ball twice for 57 yards and had a 38-yard touchdown and caught one pass for 1 yard. He also recorded 11 tackles.

Stephone Anthony — Lining up at running back, Anthony had an 18-yard rushing touchdown in Wadesboro, N.C., Anson’s 34-32 loss to Scotland.

Defensive Line
Timmy Jernigan — Jernigan recorded five tackles and forced a fumble on defense. As Lake City Colubmia’s fullback, he ran the ball six times for 25 yards in a 22-14 win over Buchholz.

Defensive Backs
Marcus Roberson — Roberson had a 54-yard interception returned for a touchdown in St. Thomas Aquinas’ 52-13 win over Boyd Anderson.

Malcolm Mitchell — On offense, Mitchell caught five passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns in Valdosta’s 64-62 overtime win over Brunswick.

Chris Johnson — Johnson scored on a 4-yard run in Trinity Catholic’s 48-7 win over Tampa Catholic.


  1. Have you seen anything on Jamal Golden from Wetumpka AL? He is a do everything type athelete. He plays QB, but looks like he might project as a receiver in college. He’s an outstanding player and I think would be a great pick up for any team.

  2. Always enjoy the updates Ed. Read your article “Notebook: Receivers earning Brantley’s trust” and am scratching my head why we have not heard more about Debose. He is not mentioned in the injury updates, so why are we not seeing this guy on the field and producing? Any addtional toughts to share. Always appreciated, Go Gators!
