With Rival.com and ESPN releasing their final rankings, it’s only fair that I share Scout.com’s recruiting rankings as well.
I actually have a few issues with where some guys are ranked on this list. Don’t call me a Gator homer, but I feel like a few Florida commits didn’t get much respect in these rankings.
Joshua Shaw is ranked way too low. Sharrif Floyd is too. And there a couple prospects who missed the list all together!
The big question is why Moreno Valley, Calif., Rancho Verde defensive end Ronald Powell is not the No. 1 player in the country. He’s not even No. 2. Still, the Gators are represented well and shouldn’t be too upset with the way they look in the Scout Top 100.
Scout Top 100
4. Ronald Powell, DE, Moreno Valley, Calif., Rancho Verde (five-star)
10. Matt Elam, S, West Palm Beach Dwyer (five-star)
35. Chris Dunkley, WR, Pahokee (five-star)
38. Sharrif Floyd, DT, Philadelphia George Washington (five-star)
42. Mack Brown, RB, Lithonia, Ga., Martin Luther King (five-star)
54. Jonathan Dowlin, S, Bradenton Southeast (four-star)
68. Jaylen Watkins, CB, Cape Coral (four-star)
88. Johsua Shaw, CB, Palmdale, Calif. (four-star)
Players of interest
1. Seantrel Henderson, OL, Saint Paul, Minn., Cretin-Derham Hall (five-star)
5. Chris Martin, DE, Aurora, Colo., Grandview (five-star) — California — Just put him on because of how high on the list he is. He was once considered a Florida lean as well.
6. Jeff Luc, LB, Port St. Lucie Treasure Coast (five-star) — Florida State — He’s pretty high compared to the other rankings as well.
20. Christian Green, WR, Tampa Catholic (five-star)
24. Jordan Hicks, LB, West Chester, Ohio, Lakota West (five-star)
27. Dillon Baxter, RB, San Diego Mission Bay (five-star) — USC
30. Xavier Grimble, TE, Las Vegas Bishop Gorman (five-star) — USC
45. Adrian Coxson, WR, Baltimore, Md., City College High (five-star)
47. Da’Rick Rogers, WR, Calhoun, Ga. (five-star) — Georgia
75. Chaz Green, OL, Tampa Catholic (four-star)
78. Ivan McCartney, WR, Miramar (four-star)
hey Ed the final rivals rankings has Powell as the number one player overall as does ESPN. Not sure when you wrote this aritcle but the rankings have been such for about a week now.
lol disreagard my previous post cause obviously i can’t read. Many apologies. Keep up the good work Ed…
IMO scout is the worst rankings. Not even saying that because I’m a gator homer, it’s because scout rankings are just so far off from rivals and espn.
Remember that Scout has an issue with the Gators because Gatorcountry.com left Scout
Ronald Powell just made ESPN’s final ranking as the number one recruit in the nation. A lot was said about his versatility that enables him to be a defensive or offensive threat.
What do you think about him bulking up to 250 pounds and playing both ways. He has great speed and hands and would make for an imposing back. He could be all universe as a linebacker. Playinging both sides would make great headlines for the Gator program.
It amazes me any gator would join any of the Scout sites, ie fight’n gators, etc. because they have never been kind to the gator’s in rating their classes for the past several years, like last year’s class, all the other sites had UF rated as a top 10 class, but, Scout had them at No. 12 I believe… I’m not sure what’s up with that site, but, I would not pay to join that site. They seem to be anti-gators…why fight’n gators associates with Scout is a real mystery.
Scouts final rankings come out Tuesday. I hear we’ll be happy Gators. Little premature here Edward.
Unless im mistaken the new scout rankings arent out yet(tuesday i believe)… these match the old rankings… i think we will see players like Easley and Powell move up in the rankings come tuesday…
I have more respect and trust for ESPNU’s scouting and ranking because in addition to crunching and comparing the numbers on paper, they also include the subjective observations of established college and pro scouts, unlike Rivals.com and Scouts.com who rely on sports journalists (the latter is not bad, but the former is better).
