Kamar Wilcoxson is headed to Gainesville sooner rather than later.
The four-star defensive back will reclassify and join Florida’s 2020 class, according to a report from Rivals’ Joseph Hastings. Wilcoxson told Hastings the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting uncertainty surrounding high school football influenced his decision to enroll early and accelerate his development.
“I feel as if I don’t have nothing else to prove at the high school level,” Wilcoxson told Gators Territory. “I feel I could go in and make an impact as a 17-year-old on a college level, so why not? I live for challenges, so it’s something I’m excited about.”
His decision seemingly caps a recruitment that saw Wilcoxson twice commit and de-commit from Florida before shutting down his recruitment in late June by re-committing to UF once again.
“Honestly, it’s just going to be funny seeing all the fans that said I wasn’t going to sign,” Wilcoxson told Hastings. “I want to see what they’ve got to say when this paperwork gets faxed over.”
With Wilcoxson’s reclassification, the Gators hold commitments from 24 prospects in the 2020 class.
