With some potential difficult financial times possibly looming in the fall and beyond for Florida and the other SEC athletic programs, there was some good news Tuesday.
UF is set to receive $47.471 million in revenue sharing for the 2018-19 fiscal year from the SEC as part of the league’s record payout of $651 million to its 14 member institutions, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
UF’s share is almost $2 million more than last year. The average distribution to each SEC school for 2018-19 was $44.6 million, an increase of $1.5 million.
UF’s share does not include money it received for playing in back-to-back New Year’s Six bowl games.
During the 2018-19 fiscal year, the SEC earned a record-setting $720.6 million in total revenue, up nine percent from the previous year. Of that total, $477.4 million came from television and radio revenue.
