Florida received a commitment Thursday afternoon from one of the top-ranked in-state defensive back prospects in the 2021 class.
Dakota Mitchell, a 6-foot, 192-pound safety out of Winter Park, committed to the Gators over offers from South Carolina, LSU and Tennessee.

Mitchell, who backed off a previous commitment to LSU on June 12, is ranked the No. 28 safety prospect by 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Prior to the coronavirus pandemic suspending in-person recruiting, Mitchell had taken unofficial visits to the likes of Clemson (March 7) and Florida State (Feb. 1) before committing to Coach Ed Orgeron and the Tigers.
With the addition of Mitchell, the Gators hold commitments from 18 prospects in the 2021 class, including two former signees in Diwun Black and Deyavie Hammond.
