UF players making it official Wednesday by signing National Letter of Intent:

Position: Wide receiver

Height: 6-foot-4

Weight: 226 pounds

Ranking: Shorter was ranked the No. 1 wide receiver prospect and the No. 8 overall prospect in the 2018 class by 247Sports’ composite ranking.

Hometown: Monmouth Junction, New Jersey

High School: South Brunswick

Early analysis: Shorter arrives in Gainesville with unrealized potential — and his work cut out for him, too. Having yet to catch a touchdown pass in two years of collegiate action, Shorter left Penn State mid-season and entered the transfer portal. If he can get back to elite shape and learn Florida’s offense upon enrolling in May, Shorter could erase any notion the Gators have a noticeable void at receiver.

Position: Wide receiver

Height: 6-foot-4

Weight: 180 pounds

Ranking: Henderson is ranked the No. 11 wide receiver and the No. 66 overall prospect in 247Sports’ composite ranking.

Hometown: Miami

High School: Columbus

Early analysis: Unlike his older brother bound for the NFL, the younger Henderson is a deep threat wide receiver who added necessary size to his frame over the last two seasons of his recruitment. Initially bound for Clemson, the Gators landed Xzavier after Jeff Scott accepted the South Florida head coaching gig, and Florida reaped rewards. He performed against some of the best competition in the state, and capped his high school career by hauling in three passes in Columbus’ first state championship in program history. Considering UF’s wide receiver depth chart is more open this season, Henderson could earn himself some reps sooner than later and could work his way into at least four games in 2020.

Position: Running back

Height: 6-foot

Weight: 190 pounds

Ranking: Lingard was ranked the No. 2 running back and No. 25 overall prospect in the 2018 class by 247Sports’ composite ranking.

Hometown: Orange City

High School: University

Early analysis: Not only is Lingard the second top-50 ranked prospect from the 2018 class to transfer into Florida – he gives the Gators depth at a position of need after UF didn’t sign a running back in the 2020 class. If Lingard is declared eligible immediately, he almost assuredly will compete for minutes in UF’s backfield rotation.

Position: Defensive end

Height: 6-foot-4

Weight: 250 pounds

Ranking: Umanmielen is ranked the No. 9 strong-side defensive end and the No. 241 overall prospect in the 2020 class by 247Sports’ composite ranking.

Hometown: Manor (Texas)

High School: Manor

Early analysis: Umanmielen is the cherry on top of a rebuild along the defensive line. After missing out on Avantae Williams, who opted to sign with Miami over Florida, the Gators had a surprise of their own and landed a top-10 prospect at defensive end. Umanmielen should fill out physically once he gets on UF’s campus, and his quickness and versatility along the line could make him a candidate for early playing time once he develops.

UF signed 21 prospects in the early signing period – 10 of whom are already on campus as mid-year enrollees – in December.

  1. In listing the prospects at the bottom they forgot Shorter and Lingard but got the other 2 that signed today, so the numbers dont add up and you have to search the names to figure out who was left off of the 25 total.
This was a great haul and will really boost the talent and depth on the team. Hats off to you Coach Mullen!
