Florida cornerback Kaiir Elam is on the SEC All-Freshman team that is voted on by the league coaches and was announced Thursday.
Elam, a true freshman from West Palm Beach, started four games this season and played in eight others, recording two interceptions and two pass breakups.
He ended the season as a starter at cornerback, with regular starter Marco Wilson making the move to the star position.
Elam is the lone Gator on the All-Freshman team.
Well deserved honor. If he keeps progressing, he will be an all-American by the time he is a junior.
Oops, forgot about Elam already being a starter when I commented on the no bowl game play for CJ article. So who steps into #1’s shoes for the Orange Bowl?
Alligator, Jaydon Hill and Chester Kimbrough were listed behind Henderson on the depth chart for the FSU game.
PLEASE NOTE; CBS Sports named Greenard First-team All American at DE. I don’t care what AP writers think since none of them ever played football. Just wish he was coming back next year. Maybe Zuniga can get a medical return, but I understand he’s already decided to go pro as a 2nd or 3rd round pick, maybe early 4th. But he’s going. Congrats to ELAM. Please return for soph season.
cattrick, Zuniga’s a redshirt senior, so the only way he could return is if he were granted a medical redshirt for this season, meaning a 6th year of eligibility. I’m not sure there’s time for the NCAA to have an answer for such a request before the draft. Elam is a true freshman and not eligible for the draft.
