Lucas Krull, Florida’s No. 2 tight end, is entering the NCAA transfer portal as a graduate transfer, the redshirt junior announced on Twitter on Monday.

Krull, like graduate transfer quarterback Nick Sproles, will remain with the Gators through the bowl game and will then transfer to another school to finish his final year of eligibility.

This season, Krull has caught three passes for 33 yards. In his two years at UF, he has played in 25 games and caught nine passes for 108 yards.

  1. Krull is quite the physical specimen – can block quite well, as well as catch passes. Not sure we gave him enough touches, but his contribution is greatly appreciated! May he have the year (next season) he seeks. GO GATORS!!!

  2. He can seek that season here. He should get more touches next year as a matter of course, will probably be a major contributor, and someone needs to talk to him before he hauls off and hauls ass outta here.

  3. I’ll never forget that awesome pass he threw to Franks against LSU. Both guys are very talented athletes with great attitudes. Wouldn’t have believed it if you told me at the time that they both would end up transferring. I hope that says something positive about our depth. Going to have to find a TE or two that can consistently block well on the edge, in the flat, and downfield. Maybe an H back is the answer but our run game isn’t going to be reliable until we get better blocking all around. Judging from Coach Mullen and staff’s work so far, I’m sure they’re three steps ahead of me on this.

  4. This is what happens when you use one of the best pass catchers almost solely as a blocker for other receivers. I don’t blame him at all, and hope DM has enough sense to put up a fight for him to stay instead of simply letting him walk. We all know DM is hard headed. Krull, many in Gator nation feel ya, and want you to stay and put on the TE show we know you can! If you leave, nothing but the best to you, and may your new coach let you do your thing!
