Florida continued to bolster its out-of-conference future scheduling by adding a pair of games with Utah, according to a high-ranking SEC source.

Florida will play Utah at home in 2022 and in Salt Lake City in 2023.

UF has already added home-and-home series with Texas, Colorado and Miami as part of its efforts to try to always have 10 games against Power Five conference teams in the future. The Gators annually play Florida State from the ACC. Utah is in the Pac-12.

Florida and Utah have only played a football game one time in the history of the schools. It was in 1977, a Homecoming game for Florida that the Gators won 38-29 in Gainesville.

Utah is currently ranked No. 19 in The Associated Press poll and has been ranked in each of the last six years, making bowl games in the last five heading into this season.

Utah is coached by Kyle Whittingham, who took over from Urban Meyer when Meyer left for Florida after the 2004 regular season.

  1. Not bad. Utah doesn’t have the same cache as USC, Stanford, Washington, or Oregon having come from the WAC and Mountain West but they can be just as good in some years. They don’t have as much talent as the aforementioned schools but can be very dangerous. Not sure what size crowd the match-up will draw but definitely will be better than playing an FCS school.
