Florida’s 2020 class is in the midst of arguably its most productive stretch on the recruiting trail thus far.
After landing three commitments over the past weekend, the Gators continued to receive good news Monday when Lakeland cornerback Fenley Graham verbally committed to coach Dan Mullen and UF.
The 5-foot-9 Graham, ranked by 247Sports as the No. 57 cornerback in the 2020 class, opted to shut his recruitment down and commit to the Gators over offers from Miami, Kentucky and North Carolina, among others.
With Graham’s commitment, which is non-binding until he signs a letter of intent, the Gators hold commitments from 17 prospects in the 2020 class.
That Lakeland team was loaded…welcome my man. Now help with the Bowman flip.. 🙂
……..and, go get one of the greatest legacy Gators son, Emmett Smith Jr! I can’t believe that youngster is even flirting with other schools, let alone currently ranking them ahead of us. Austin, since you’re TDY in Dallas anyway, why don’t you head over and pick up DallasGator, then drop by Stately Smith Manor and have a chat with Sr? Tell him Joey Bagadoughnuts sent y’all with an offer he can’t refuse.
I might be going to a fundraiser breakfast where EJ’s mom is the guest speaker. I’ll make sure to mention your displeasure with her son and I’ll bet she runs right home to have a chat with him 😉
Tell her, “Gator-6 says don’t make me come up there, Mrs Smith”. 😜
But at any rate, say hey for me, Dallas. How you been?
I thought long DBs are all the rage. 5′-9″ seems a bit on the short side. Perhaps he can really lay the wood when the situation calls for it.
Albert, I’m not a betting man unless it’s with 65’s money, but I’m willing to bet anyway that you can make book on it. The laying of the wood, that is. Just ask Dr Grantham.
He is short for average but looks like he has a motor and packs a punch when he hits. Went to 247 and looked at a short clip.
As for 6 and what little money I have he’s out there is Texas where all the money is.
Welcome to the Swamp.
Oh….he is a baller for sure 65.
Just watched some clips on him from AA site. He played RB, CB and return. He is slippery in contact. And appears to get to the corner and make the turn. Good hands but needs to protect the ball (he wasn’t hit much) Observations for 1 penny.
CDM said, “Let’s get’er dun!” And they are out there in this enormously hot environs recruiting their a$$e$ off for the benefit of the Gator Nation. Hope all fans appreciate the dedication and exertion to land the next team of National Champs at the U of F!
I’m glad to see another gator from Lakeland, that’s always good.
as far as height, some of it is reach as well, sometimes being a left hander has an advantage, and there are a number of things like mental strength, conditioning, leadership etc. before you know if we landed the next dbu star, but i’m sure we will be putting good ones on the field.
Still, the number of commitment changes in recent years etc. has me not as excited about recruiting anymore until 2 years after the class is signed. sometimes the newspaper overrates them, sometimes they don’t stay with the original commitment, sometimes they transfer, sometimes they misbehave, etc. so i’m just going to relax, hopefully early next season we will know what cdm’s first class really was (although with transfers in etc. looks pretty good so far) and so on.
Pretty darn good advice on recruiting excitement, Mveal.
So Rivals now has us at number 6. I need one of our recruiting experts to explain to me how CDM can’t recruit.
I’m waiting too, Galvez. The silence will be deafening when we win a SEC with this team in a couple more years.
By the way, I did graduate from UF (’89), so I am qualified to comment on this subject.
He reminds me of Quez Green – a very versatile player who helped the Gators when key foobtball games.
5″ 9″ ?…. I want corners that can compete for the ball not just tackle after they make the catch. I sure hope he can jump cause that’s what he’ll have to do , which is hard when you just made a cut! I want corners to knock it down or catch it, that’s what elite corners do! Sure, the short guy has faster acceleration and can cut quicker but all that’s moot if they cant compete for the ball.
With so many receivers now in the mid 6′ range that’s a tall order but here’s hoping he can prove me wrong.
Dont forget that UF may be recruiting him as an offensive player or even a return specialist. He may become Brandon James 2.0 😎
No one said he had to stay at corner. Ahmad Black was 5’9 and as a sophomore he moved over to strong safety and had 7 ints and 2 TDs. Eventually earning first team All-SEC and second team All-American after his senior season.
You beat me to this….and from the same alma mater. If you can play, you can play. He is a baller no doubt about it…and plays against supreme talent, including the defeat of St Thomas Aquinas in the title game
He’ll need a year under Savage, and I expect him to be a lower-ranked 4* by his senior hs season too. Kid has some good potential as a Safety, or possible a LB if he ends up bulking up, but secondary is where I see him now.
Who’s house? Naughts’ house!… Bowman, come on friend, join your crew.
