Florida’s 2020 class picked up a commitment Sunday night from Ft. Lauderdale (Fl.) Cardinal Gibbons offensive lineman Gerald Mincey, giving UF its second offensive line commitment since Friday.
“I am committing to the University of Florida, officially,” Mincey said in a video posted to his Twitter account, drawing an elated reaction from Mullen, offensive line coach John Hevesy and wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales. Florida landed fellow three-star offensive lineman Jovens Janvier to kick off the weekend.
The 6-foot-6 Mincey landed an offer from the Gators during a Junior Day in March, and the 325-pounder has recently snagged offers from Penn State and Georgia after a strong spring.
With the addition of Mincey, the Gators hold verbal commitments from 14 prospects in their No. 6-ranked 2020 class.
GO GATORS!
#6 avg ranking better than.90. Is say this is a great class. If they all show up, play to their potential we’ll be fine. Gators will have ol depth
I know o-line guys are supposed to be menacing and the pic of him with a face shield sure does that but it would have been nice to have seen his face to place with the name. Guess Ill have to got to another site to see what he looks like. Welcome aboard Mr Mincey!
Mincey will likely be a tremendous OL. I’m sure we will see his face soon.
Between White, Janvier, and Mincey, that’s over 1,000 of BEEF on the OL.
Mullen is systematically putting together another “Great Wall of Florida”.
We should take at least two more OL in this class for a total of four, “possibly” five.
Does anyone know if he’s related to Jeremy Mincey? Jeremy played DE for the Gators on Urban Myer’s first two teams, was a team captain and was drafted by the Patriots in 2006.
Very pleased that the Gerald Mincey will be joing the Gator football team – he looks like a prime candidate for offensive tackle. Regarding those who have committed to the Gators and then changed their minds, there is still time to reconsider. However, we certainly do not want any players on the team who are unhappy or not otherwise fully committed to the Gators. Best wishes to those who choose another university. I am a second generation UF alumnus and attended my first game when I was 13 years old (I grew up in Gainesville). GO GATORS!!!
