Kamar Wilcoxson is in search of a new destination.

Wilcoxson, the No. 23-ranked athlete in the 2021 class by 247Sports, announced his decision to re-open his recruitment Saturday via his Twitter account.

Roses are red, violets are blue respect my decision and no interviews too .. 💯 pic.twitter.com/jra321kSZN— 🌹 (@KamarWilcoxson2) April 27, 2019

The 6-foot-2 prospect’s decision comes on the heels of several unofficial visits to Georgia Tech, a program now led by former UF defensive coordinator Geoff Collins.

With Stephenson’s departure, Florida’s 2021 class holds verbal commitments from just five prospects — yet the class remains ranked No. 2 in the nation by 247sports.

  1. whats interesting to me is that geoff collins imo is starting a process where georgia tech is going to be in the conversation a lot more in future years. if clemson can move up the food chain, georgia tech can return to at least near the top in spite of the academic demands they require of their kids that many schools in that region dont. probably bama slides, the vols come back somewhat and kirby is headed to the status of mac brown/ muschamp style, high talent and occasional success. auburn is going to pay for their love/hate relationship with coaches, even though it has the advantage due to high status but weaker academics except veterinary school.
in a way this whole region gained from german automakers moving in. but i read those german companies are sliding for several reasons, not that they might not rise again. i like florida to come back. people live here because they want to, not because they have to. thats a good thing.

  2. 2021? No big deal at a kid making sure he maximizes his options. The kid is not necessarily saying he wants to go elsewhere…you only live once. Why not go on trips and see what’s out there so the decision is most informed?
