When it comes to recruiting the state of Florida, the Gators continue to prioritize the Lakeland area.
6-foot-3, 210-pound Morven Joseph became the latest member of UF’s 2020 class when he opted to commit to the Gators on Friday.

Joseph, a quickly rising prospect out of Lake Gibson High in Lakeland, was on campus for Florida’s Junior Day on Feb. 2 after picking up a UF offer on Jan. 24. A rising senior, Joseph already holds offers from the likes of Texas A&M, Miami and Nebraska yet decided to commit to the Gators less than a month after receiving an offer from tight ends coach Larry Scott.
With Joseph’s verbal commitment the Gators have eight commits in the 2020 class, which is ranked No. 4 in the nation by 247Sports.
Very pleased with Morven Joseph’s committment to the Florida Gators. He will be bigger when he graduates from Lake Gibson High, and I figure his speed and athleticism are key factors as to why he was recruited by UF. Hoping Morven with stick with his pledge and become a Rowdy Gator – GO GATORS!!!
Usually I look at advanced recruiting with a cursory eye, but now that CDM is charging up San Juan Hill and what with DC Todd Grantham turning down Cincinnati, Joseph’s commitment helps with further recruiting as well. Gotta love tireless recruiting from our coaching staff. Go Gators!
Relentless effort from coaches and players. This is only the beginning.
All this recruiting success and the Gators havenāt even started construction of the new football complex yet. The futureās so bright I gotta wear shades! š
Go Gators!!!
Was my point some time ago STL, facilities are flash and catch the eye. True coaching is the foundation. Imagine the impression the Gators will make when it is finished. Someone mentioned the term “rising”, I would like to add a comment on that. What team would pick a “falling” player? Since they are all trying to have a higher takes class. I read this in three articles here today. Maybe “improving”, “ascending”, “emerging”,”bedding”. Used interchangeably it would make the stories not look like they only had the name of the recruit changed in a story written for another recruit.
Donāt know for sure but I believe the term ārisingā is used for a lesser rated recruit that is picking up interest and will soon be ranked higher
65, nowadays to stay in the top 5 recruiting classes every year, the Gators must compete in all phases and elite facilities is one of them. The 20 and 21 recruits are being shown the football complex plans and told theyāll be moving in there during their career at UF if all goes according to those plans.
FSU and Miami canāt compete on that basis and the state of FL has enough talent to keep the Gators well stocked, especially if CDM gets first dibs.
This Lakeland Gator Naught is very pleased to see still another Lakelander, Morven Joseph, join the Gators!
He is an outstanding and intimidating DE who will only get bigger and stronger in the next year or so.
Morven, welcome to the home of champions Gainesville.
Lakeland is a GREAT football city and many a solid player has come from there. SALUTE to Lakeland…
Several of us said patience…ESPECIALLY after going 4-8. Let CDM show a good product and then evaluate his recruiting. I would imagine it is going to plan for him in a big way. Very happy with everything so far. GO GATORS.
