Florida may have found a pass rusher to fill the void left by the early departure of defensive end/outside linebacker Jachai Polite.

Actually, he has found the Gators.

Former Louisville defensive end/outside linebacker Jonathan Greenard announced on Twitter on Wednesday night that he is enrolling in classes at UF on Thursday as a graduate transfer. He will participate in spring drills and will be eligible this fall.

Greenard has a connection at UF — defensive coordinator Todd Grantham, whom he played for at Louisville in 2016.

Greenard, who is from Hiram, Ga., sat out the 2018 season after injuring his wrist in Louisville’s opener. He had been voted a team captain for the season.

In 2017, Greenard led the Cardinals in tackles for losses with 15.5. He also recorded seven sacks.

    • A grad transfer has only one year of eligibility (equating to the one year as a regular redshirt)… I guess the exception might be that a player could have both regular and medical redshirt years but still graduated in 4 years?

    • He could try for a medical redshirt since he missed pretty much all of last season and gain an extra year, but right now he’s only got 1 year. If he matches or improves on his 2017 stats, then he’s gone after this year anyway.

    • adam shuler got 2 years, and stayed after one good year.. glad to see it, we need the help. great athletes help, but a leader who can fight back once hit is more valuable than an elite athlete who cant like slaton

      • mveal. Slaton was an elite OG coming out of high school, not an elite DT recruit. He came to Florida because he wanted to play DT and McElwain promised him he would. That switch in positions has not worked out so well for Slaton so far. I would not be surprised if he plays on the OL next season.

        • just because i agree with you here, swamp, doesnt mean i am not going to annoy you some more somewhere else! your calls on slaton are solid and elsewhere too. going back to our past arguments, i thought ucf had the guts to play us so i was all for taking them on. anyway they don’t, so you give some minor school a break and all they do is make you look bad in front of your fellow gators. i still don’t like south carolina etc. though.

    • Tom – the article stated that he is a graduate transfer. That alone are the key words that tell the story. I am not trying to break your balls, just pointing out the obvious. I mentioned him as a transfer over a month ago after reading about it on 247 sports I believe. GO GATORS!!!
