Florida moved up two spots in the College Football Playoff rankings Tuesday to No. 11, strengthening a bid to a New Year’s Six Bowl with a win Saturday at Florida State.
The Gators need to end the slide Saturday in Tallahassee to remain in contention for a New Year’s Six bowl — a potential trip to the Peach Bowl or Fiesta Bowl. Florida’s five-game losing streak is its longest in series history.
Florida (8-3) debuted at No. 11 in the College Football Playoff Rankings, but fell to No. 15 after its 38-17 loss to Missouri two weeks ago. Last week, Florida bumped up to No. 13 after its come-from-behind victory over South Carolina and the Gators now sit at No. 11 following its thrashing of Idaho.
Florida’s resume is highlighted by wins over No. 7 LSU and No. 18 Mississippi State.
Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame and Michigan were at the top of the College Football Playoff rankings Tuesday night, marking the first time in the five-year history of the postseason system that the same teams held the first four spots for three straight weeks.
