The Oct. 6 game at The Swamp against LSU will kick off at 3:30 p.m. and televised on CBS, the SEC announced Monday.
Also Monday, running back Dameon Pierce was named SEC Freshman of the Week.
The weekly honor is the first of Pierce’s career with the Gators and comes after a solid rushing performance in Florida’s 47-21 win over Tennessee.
The Bainbridge, Ga. native rushed for 63 yards on seven carries against the Volunteers. He also scored for the second straight game and his 47-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter sealed the victory for the Gators.
Through four games, Pierce is the Gators’ leading rusher with 228 yards on 21 attempts and averages 10.7 yards per run.
The Gators are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Starkville for an SEC matchup with Mississippi State at 6 p.m. on ESPN.
I liked Pierce when I first saw him in game 1. Now he needs to learn how to block and pick-up blitzes. Looking forward to more from him.
David – Yeah when the opposing coaches see him come in they probably figure it’s not going to be a pass play because of his poor blocking and inability to pick up the blitz. But hey he’s only a freshman, give him time to get better at that stuff. Scarlet could maybe help him in that area since it is one of his strengths.
