[Updated 9-5-18, 10 a.m.] Former UF athletes in the professional ranks making moves:

Aug. 26


Indianapolis Colts — Traded linebacker Antonio Morrison to the Green Bay Packers for cornerback Lenzy Pipkins. Morrison was Indy’s fourth-round draft choice in 2016 out of Florida and played in 31 games, starting 15 with the Colts. He has had 154 tackles in his career, but had been sliding down the depth chart. Nether Pipkins nor Morrison were locks to make the final 53-man rosters with their previous teams.

Aug. 28

Cincinnati Bengals — Agreed to a three-year, $45 million contract extension with Carlos Dunlap, 29, who finished third on the club with 7½ sacks last season. His best year was 2015, when he had 13½ sacks, second-most in club history. His totals have slipped each of the past two seasons. He’s also adept and blocking passes at the line, knocking down a team-leading 15 in 2016.

Boston Red Sox — Recalled LHP Bobby Poyner

New York Mets — Recalled right-handed pitcher Eric Hanhold from Triple-A Las Vegas. The 24-year-old worked his way through the Mets’ farm system this year, starting in High-A and to Las Vegas. He owns a 7.11 ERA over 19 innings with the 51s. Made MLB debut Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers and pitched 1.1 scoreless innings.


Jacksonville Jaguars — Placed defensive end Dante Fowler on the suspended by commissioner list. Fowler was suspended one game for a 2017 arrest. He will rejoin the team Sept. 10 and won’t count against the team’s 53-man roster for Week 1. The Jaguars also waived injured tight end DeAndre Goolsby.

Cleveland Browns — Waived DL Caleb Brantley.

Philadelphia Eagles — Waived RB Matt Jones.

New England Patriots — Released RB Mike Gillislee.

Dallas Cowboys — Waived WR Deonte Thompson, OL Chaz Green

Minnesota Vikings  Waived-injured RB Mack Brown

Oakland Raiders — Placed K Eddy Piñeiro on injured reserve.

Seattle Seahawks  Waived DT Joey Ivie

Sept. 2


Atlanta Braves Reacquired OF Preston Tucker from Cincinnati for cash considerations. Tucker was dealt to the Reds on July 30 in the trade that brought OF Adam Duvall to Atlanta.


Oakland Raiders  Waived OT David Sharpe

Sept. 3


New Orleans Saints Signed running back Mike Gillislee, a five-year veteran who spent last season with New England. He carried the ball 104 times for the Patriots, gaining 383 yards and scoring five touchdowns. He also caught one pass for 15 yards. His most productive season came in 2016 with Buffalo, when he rushed for 577 yards and eight TDs to go with 50 yards and one TD receiving.

San Francisco 49ers — Placed S Marcell Harris on injured reserve.

Washington Redskins — Signed DL Caleb Brantley, who was cut Saturday by the Browns. The 24-year-old Brantley had 18 tackles and two sacks last season as a rookie last year. He had a sack and two tackles in the preseason.

Los Angeles Angels — Released INF Nolan Fontana, who appeared in just eight games for the Angels this season, going 1-for-11 with a walk and a homer. He was cut to free up a spot on the 40-man roster.


Kansas City Chiefs — Signed DL Joey Ivie to practice squad.
