Columbia High wide receiver TJ Jones is about to take off.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound deep threat has picked up nearly 35 offers to date, with multiple offers across the SEC — including the University of Florida.
Jones attended Friday Night Lights on July 27, which he called “a great experience”. With UF being just a half-hour away, it’s easy for Jones to make the trip, but he’s yet to be heavily recruited by the Gators.
Although it appears that may change soon.
“They wanted me to come compete tonight to see if I’m a hard worker,” Jones said. “(Coach Gonzales) can see me playing either inside or outside.”
With UF having just one wide receiver commit — Dionte Marks — in the 2019 class, the staff has prioritized the position on the recruiting trail.

“They were just telling me that the depth chart, that they’re low on receivers (in this class),” Jones said. “A lot of receivers go to the league out of (Mullen’s) offense, so it’s a better opportunity to go to the league.”
But UF will first have to fend off several SEC programs and in-state programs who have been recruiting Jones heavily prior to his senior season.
“Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M,” Jones said, “As well as Miami, Florida State, a few others.”
And Jones says it’s the southern in-state program who currently have his attention.
“I’m really loving Miami,” Jones said.
Although his senior season is quickly approaching, Jones has yet to schedule any official visits, but he has decided on several programs to visit.

“Miami’s going to get one, Louisville, Nebraska, Tennessee,” Jones said. “It’s close (with Florida), that’s why I’m unofficially visiting, but I’m still going to get back here in the Fall for sure.”
