Florida is picking up some instant depth on its defensive line with the addition of a graduate transfer.
Adam Shuler, who started 10 games at defensive end for West Virginia as a redshirt junior last season, announced on Twitter on Monday that he is transferring to UF.
He posted the following Tweet: “I will be going to …. The University of Florida!!! Don’t ask no questions. #ShulerGang back home #88.”
He is immediately eligible at UF and will have two years of eligibility.
The 6-foot-4, 270-pound Shuler is from Longwood and was a three-star prospect coming out of Lyman High School in 2015.
In 24 games with the Mountaineers, Shuler had 67 tackles, nine tackles for loss, four sacks and a fumble recovery.
Huh? Can he bring Will Grier back with him?
Not on your life, tuna.
Gator-6, with you all the way on this one. I’m sure that Tuna was being sarcastic though.
Shoot, I was only pulling his lanyard, Dan. My two cents was all, Tuna is a good ol’ boy if there ever was one and he’s been on here for a long time.
Welcome aboard Adam! We could only wish for Grier, the best QB here since Tim!
Interesting, didn’t see this coming.
6’4″, 270 lbs… he’s gonna fill some shoes
Didn’t George Jones sing a song about that once?
Indeed, Gator-6. A classic from the Possum!
Boy I miss that guy…..it just isn’t the same any more. But last summer, Joe, that old Florida boy John Anderson did a concert out here in lil old Salado, Texas……a bunch of us transplanted Gators were there…..and he joined right in with the GO GATORS after about every song. Best night of my life, I tell you.
I like John Anderson, too. “Swingin'” was one of my all-time favorites … “Seminole Wind” not so much, just because of the title. Not much country in the so-called country music today.
Can’t really stand it these days, hardly listen anymore. Other than Willies Roadhouse on satellite radio, where to oldies live, that is. But at least John Anderson is a Gator!
My favorite Anderson song is “Let go of the Stone”. A message that could be from God to each as well, telling us that if He’s ever going to save us, we have to “let go” of the things of this world. Did not know he was a Gator ( Anderson, not God!) My wife and I love Alan Jackson as well.
That IS a good one Dan, a little more pertinent the older we get and recognize that’s what He has been telling us all along.
God’s pretty silent on His football affiliations, but I do have it on good authority that He lives a little east of Gainesville….if that tells you anything!
Welcome back home!
Schuler has the strength and size and could be the answer for the pass rush especially until CC gets back on track. Having that added depth is a plus too.
A DE in a 3-4 needs to eat up blockers to free up the OLB pass rush… 6’4″, 270 sounds like a solid fit.
Nulli secundus… To hell with everything red and black 😉
when you bring in successful transfers you really upgrade your total recruiting. so maybe the newspaper ranked us 15 last year, but if you get 3 transfers to come in and contribute at a high level which it looks like then its really a top ten class imo.
fulfills an immediate need. does uf get more grad transfers that everybody else, or is it my imagination, especially the money sports.
