Florida defensive lineman Richerd Desir-Jones is no longer with the football program or enrolled at the university, the Gainesville Sun confirmed Monday.

A source close to Desir-Jones confirmed the 6-foot, 290-pounder is in the process of transferring to Coffeyville (Kansas) Community College, where he intends to continue his football career.

Desir-Jones, a redshirt sophomore out of St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort. Lauderdale, spent the 2017 season away from the program after receiving a suspension for his role in the credit card fraud scandal involving nine UF players.

  1. Depending on how he was treated during the suspension and investigation, this could become a get his life straightened out at CC, followed by a return….we’ll see. Hope he takes advantage of the second chance.

  3. Kid is probably embarrassed to face his teammates after what that bunch did to the program. I suppose any of them that do come back are going to face hell on steroids, probably even beyond the rules, from the rest, so if they do I guess I will shut up, they will have shown a desire to endure far more than an average player.

fresh start sounds great for them I suppose, but in terms of the program its a polite way of saying go away imo.

    • I suppose so, mveal. Let’s put it this way, if this young man is NOT embarrassed and humbled by what he did to (a) the victim(s) of his crime and, (b) his contribution to the damage potentially done to his team…..then regardless of any talent he may or may not possess, he can stay in junior college for the rest of his life for all I care.

Then again, as Corey suggests above, let’s all hope that he is setting out to straighten out his life and try for a second chance. God bless him if he is.
