Based on his post on Twitter on Wednesday night, Florida defensive end Cece Jefferson plans to return for his senior season rather than declare for the NFL draft.
Here’s Jefferson’s post on Twitter: “Senior Year about to be one to remember! Road to Atlanta! Go Gators!”
Jefferson (6-foot-1, 242 pounds) was one of the few standouts this past season, when he finished fourth on the Gators with 47 tackles. He led the team with 13.5 tackles for loss and recorded a team-high 4.5 sacks.
College players have until Jan. 15 to declare for the NFL draft.
Huah. Gets better every day, don’t it just.
Anybody remember when Alex Brown landed 5 sacks against Tennessee in 1999?
Oh hell yes, Garrett. Where do men like that come from? Well, they’re still out there, ready for the picking, and under the right coach. And better yet, I think we now, finally, have got the latter.
Lost my voice at that game. Man was Brown a complete force.
I was there. Peyton Manning. Best quarterback to never beat the Gators!
That was an amazing game! Brown’s sack record was the 1999 game. Tee Martin was the quarterback and UT had just come off winning the national championship in 1998. Manning graduated in 1997. You are right though…Manning was the best quarterback to never beat the Gators! That was a great rivalry!
I remember Brown counting them out, he was one of my favorite players at Florida and was part of that “what about me” recruitment of an offensive lineman who ended up going to Tennessee. I really like CeCe too. He was the DE who made it, at his size I sort of hope they move him to linebacker, a better position for him in the NFL I’d think.
This is great news for the Florida defense and Gators everywhere. Don’t underestimate the value of a proven senior starter to a team that has seem so much transition in the past few years.
Thank you Cee Cee for coming back for senior year. Bump up the draft boards, a degree and to help lead the defense. In the new 3-4 he may move to LB. May open a spot for Clayton.
Outside LB in the 3-4? I hope so for his draft prospects.
I was ecstatic to learn of the news that CeCe was returning. I think he is a great ambassador for UF and it will only enhance his stock for next year. He is one of the guys that TRULY loves being a Gator and it shows through his comments, his actions, and his play. Will always be a fan of his and will root for him to have a great Sr season. Plus I’m sure he wants to beat the criminoles at least once before he exits stage left. #gogators
Road to Atlanta? That’s laughable….
OK Butts, I’m not gonna axe again. Just how bigga boy are ya, anyway?
THE Wally Butts, Bulldog coach back in the 50’s? No, he is pushing up the daisies by now. As I remember the Dogs were not to good under Coach Butts, but neither were the Gators. Football has really changed since then. No big $ for them in those days.
Good to see probably a better pro prospect than Bryan who needs a senior year more.
