After reports of UF coach Jim McElwain’s firing emerged Sunday, prior to an official statement from the university, many prospects committed to Florida’s 2018 class expressed on Twitter their opinions of the decision, with most taking the stance of “no comment”.

Gators quarterback commit Matt Corral out of Long Beach (Ca.) Poly wrote “I’m not answering any interview questions about what’s going on, that isn’t my place to speak about. Nothing is changing this class. #AllBite18”, while defensive back commit Randy Russell added “We are sticking together! #AllBite18”.

Wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase (Metairie, La.), tight end Kyle Pitts (Warminster, Pa.), defensive back Divaad Wilson (Miami) and offensive lineman Richard Gouraige (Tampa) each posted their desire to not be contacted for interviews regarding McElwain’s reported departure.

Wide receiver Corey Gammage appeared to distance himself from his commitment, tweeting “Due to the coaching changes being made at UF I’m going to open up my recruiting process” before later deleting the tweet.
