Protecting UF quarterback Feleipe Franks on Saturday night will be a big challenge. Texas A&M leads the SEC in sacks with 23 (that’s 10 more than Florida’s defense has).
“(Defensive coordinator) John Chavis has been doing it a long time, he’s really good,” UF coach Jim McElwain said. “You see how they get after the passer. Protection is going to be huge. Negative plays and the things they create from that standpoint, their takeaways, those are the things we’ve got to be prepared for and we’ve got to get better in the pass protection piece.
“This is one of those weeks where we are really going to be challenged with that, jumping into their sync package and the things he’s done over the years. He’s done a really good job with it.”
The Aggies will bring a variety of blitzes. Two of their top three leaders in sacks are linebackers Otaro Alaka and Tyrel Dodson.
