  1. I like Mac and he had lots of success at Bama (better talent and depth) and Colorado State after he found a QB. He and Nuss can’t seem to find an answer for our very poor pass offense. The speed to call plays and get to the line is very poor. Franks continues to lock onto receivers and not go through progressions which means his improvement has been minimal. A 6-5 season is very real if things don’t drastically improve and hope it’s not worse than this.
Georgia and Bama are now the power teams in the SEC. Kirby is out recruiting us like crazy, so we have to get things solved or be relegated to being an also ran.

    • Ugator. McElwain and Florida currently have a top five class and some recruiting services have the 2019 class as the number one class in the country. Not sure how Georgia and Smart are out recruiting McElwain and Florida. But both currently have commitments from top QB recruits. And I think McElwain preferred Corral over Fields as his future QB. Both are going to be top SEC QBs in the future. And, if Florida gets a top tier OC, Florida will remain a top tier SEC team as well. They are not this year, however.

      • What good is recruiting top tier talent, if the coaches can’t coach them up. These are all McElwain’s recruits and our defense is getting worse every year due to Muschamp’s recruits leaving and the Offense has yet to make any improvement. Coach McElwain wants to “correct” a player from scoring the deciding TD with minutes left in the game while Alabama is steamrolling opponents by 63 points. It’s time for everyone to stop making excuses. I personally want more than just average, I want to compete with Alabama/Clemson/Ohio State and I’m not sure that the current coaching staff can do it.

      • Also, Who is to blame for poor tackling if not the coaches? Who is to blame for poor game management, if not the coaches? Who is to blame for predictable play calling, if not the coaches? Why is it that other coaches can get their players ready to play/tackle every week, but our coaches can’t. Why do we have 10 players suspended? Are we not recruiting quality guys not just quality players? What about strength and conditioning? Why are so many players getting injured year in and year out? All goes to coaching staff!

      • This is of course if a new OC with a spread pedigree is hired and the keys turned over to him from day one. Bear Bryant changed, Saban changed, so Mac has to understand that with all the talent in HS football in FL, that the spread is ideal. Mac’s pride won’t like it, but his future pay check could be determined by it. The outdated pro style O without a talented QB who can read defenses and see open receivers is doomed. Franks should be much improved by now but can’t seem to get it.
Frank Frangie, the Jags play by play announcer and long time Gator in JAX, nailed our plight unless the O changes completely. Mac designed his O but Nuss is neanderthal in running it and can’t see what any fan can see. It stinks and will cost us any chance of being in Atlanta in the foreseeable future!

  2. Personally, it appears that Mac is in over his head as a head mentor…I am sure that he was a great assistant but decision making from the top is a special task. He is totally absent to see that the offense is in disarray. Hopefully something will “click” and things will get corrected. If all stays the same, we might win just one more game (UAB). I’m not totally sold that the trip to Missouri will be a win at this juncture.

  3. ”Considering the Gators have had to rally from a deficit in all four SEC games this season…” ~Gatorsports.com.
That says it all with regards to this ’17 Gator offense, and its coaching. Florida should be able to take an early lead in at least one S.E.C. game, and keep it. But they haven’t, yet . Maybe we (Florida Football fans) should accept that we’re just going to be a mediocre football program in a powerful conference (S.E.C.). But I’ve read that Coach Mac can make a mean P.B.J. and B.B.Q. sauce!

    • Gatorgi70x7. You may accept that. But I will not. And I doubt the Florida President, AD, and boosters will either. And neither will McElwain if he wants to remain the head coach of the Florida Gators. Corral will be here in December with a bunch more top recruits. And I believe a new OC will be in place next year as well. I think the future of Florida football is bright.

  5. FSU is having the exact same problems and the are worse than us.

Gators are facing real difficulties with losing players, there is no point being in denial about it anymore and speculating as to why we are not undefeated, its not a mystery.

With all the freshmen and sophomores playing this is turning out to be an unexpected rebuilding year. People just need to get over it and don’t be fair weather fans.
