Florida coach Jim McElwain said having offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier call plays from the press box was a positive in the Tennessee game, and he will remain there.
“Yeah no doubt about it,” McElwain said Wednesday. “I thought there were some really good adjustments, especially going into the fourth quarter on some things. We’ll continue to work that way.
“We’ve got, plain and simple, to not turn the football over. Anytime you do that you’re stealing plays from yourself. I think somebody asked it the other day and part of that is you’re losing seven to 14 plays anytime you put it on the ground. It’s just something you can’t do.”
If we don’t look a lot better on Saturday maybe he can just stay in the press box in Lexington as the rest of the team heads out of town.
Know what else is a plan to prevent your offense from being systematically robbed of opportunity? Don’t employ Nussmeier.
Disconnect his microphone in the press box
Nussmeier wasn’t the one who turned the ball over. The fumbles were killers – particularly the one at the end of the 74-yard run – because the offense was moving the ball.
I heard a rumor on tv that Spurrier was interested in the OC. Has anybody else heard about this ? Could be a dream come true.
Why doesn’t he ask Spurrier to join him. 👍🏼
I like the idea of having him in the press box this weekend (in Gainesville!).
It would be better if he stayed home and watched the game on TV.
