New England Patriots newcomer Mike Gillislee scored on three short runs Thursday night, becoming the first player since Terrell Owens of Philadelphia in 2004 to score three touchdowns in his debut with a new team, to get former Florida players started on a good note in the NFL this season.
On Saturday, former UF running back Matt Jones, who was cut last Saturday by the Redskins and signed last Sunday by the Colts, was waived by the Colts on Saturday to make room for an offensive lineman.
Alex McCalister, who is dealing with a hamstring injury, was waived Friday after he and the Eagles came to terms on an injury settlement.
