It’s been an anxious few days for Florida sophomore wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland, who has been worrying about family members that live in Houston.
“They’re OK,” he said after practice Tuesday. “They got a little flooding, like four feet of rain. They’re handling it. They’re still in the house. There ain’t no water inside.
“I’m very worried. Being out here, can’t do nothing about it. I just kept them in my prayers. I’m going to continue to keep them in my prayers.”
Cleveland’s cousins and aunt live in Houston. He also has numerous friends and former high school teammates in the area.
“Friends. Everybody really,” he said.
Cleveland said he’s been staying in touch via texts, and he’s been getting a lot of support from his Gator teammates.
“I’ve sent millions of texts,” he said. “I don’t know how many I’ve sent, I’ve sent a lot to different families and different people that are friends.
“”Yeah, a lot of people have come to me and asked me if I’m OK, asking if my family is OK. There are a lot of supportive people on the team.”
