Florida senior center:
Q: Does this team have another gear it can take to a big game like this?
A: I think the gear comes from practice, if we’re looking for another gear. We just have to go out there every day and practice and attack practice, get better at the little things, improve our technique and fundamentals and we’ll be successful.
Q: Is this running game one tackle away?
A: Well, that’s what it always in football, just one little thing separates you from being good and being great. So that just goes back on us in practice and getting better at the little things every day, so we don’t say, ‘Oh, we’re one tackle away.’ We can say this running game is really explosive.
Q: How much do you have to challenge the offensive line heading into this game?
A: You just challenge them, you just try to express to them the intensity it’s going to be. It’s an SEC game, it’s 3:30 in The Swamp, it doesn’t get any better than that. So just the intensity and the hype of the game since it’s a big game, so we’ll have to play big and play our best game. But that doesn’t come on Saturday, that comes on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and our preparation and what we have to do during the week.
Q: How has Kyle Trask grown as the starting quarterback?
A: Well, he comes out here on Saturdays, but what you guys don’t see is that we’ve seen it every day in practice. He’s a guy that comes out there, puts his head down and works. We see it, so I’m not surprised that he’s coming out here and setting records because he’s just doing what he’s supposed to do. He’s supposed to come out here and run the offense and make throws, and that’s what he’s coming out to do. So kudos to him, kudos to his preparation throughout the week.
Q: To what do you attribute the recent breakdowns on the offensive line?
A: Just not taking care of the little things, not focusing in on every single little detail that goes into one single football play. We run a lot of plays out there on offense, so some things can get overwhelming, but you have to have that ability to calm yourself down and really hone in and play the next play.
