    1. Pat, fair comment in comparing the recruiting environments in 2006 vs. 2019. However, Mullen will NEVER be the recruiter Meyer was, nor does he need to be. He’s demontrated at MSU and last year at UF that he’s a BETTER player developer than Meyer was. Mullen can do more with less elite talent than most current college coaches, with the possible exception of Dabbo Sweeney. He won’t need consistent #1 or #2 recruiting classes to get the Gators into the playoff his share of seasons.

BTW, I don’t know how the Gators will do vs. Auburn and LSU in the fall, but they will beat the Canes in Orlando. You can take that to the bank!

      Go Gators!!!

        • Too cool, 6! And as a born and raised Gator, a true-hater of everything red and black, aka: UGA! And I want those Dawgs to get buried by their SEC EAST FOE, the Florida Gators Football team this year! Chomp-Chomp! And Mizzou just gets lucky, i.m.o., they play in the SEC East (they belong in the West, if not the Big 10), and few take them seriously in the SEC East (and West). Point and fact, Florida let UGA beat them twice these last 2 years. Florida lost to Georgia, then played Mizzou the last 2 years, back to back), and lost both games, twice. However, I don’t see Coach Mullen letting that happen again this year with regards to Mizzou.
          GO GATORS!

          • We must have been doing a Vulcan mind meld, Spock……errr, I mean GI……that’s precisely my position on things too. Of course, I’m still trying to wrap my brain around how in the world the Gators could possibly be over-rated going into 2019………..

            • Dooley is being cautious. Don’t underestimate the OL rebuild and the fact that the 2019 Gators won’t be sneaking up on anyone the way the 2018 Gators did.

            • True, but nevertheless I suspect we’ll still be taken more lightly than not by everyone except LSU. The OL is no doubt a concern, but I have a very subjective and abiding “feeling” that it may not be a “worry” long after the first 2 or 3 games. I suspect the offense will be rather kick ass on the main once that is settled. Word up.

            • We are not getting any respect from the Georgia fans at SaturdayDownsSouth who believe the gap between our teams is not only huge but will be so for the forseable future. Hopefully the UGA players feel the same way and will take us for granted. At the very least UGA took Texas for granted and were promptly stomped, I am looking for more of the same when we play them next.

          • Columbia is an excellent restaurant, but I grew up in South Florida. If you want excellent, authentic, Cuban food, you have to visit Little Havana.

The place to go is Old Havana Cuban Bar & Cocina. The food is excellent, the drinks are strong, the service is friendly and (unlike Columbia) the prices are reasonable.

            Yelp it.

            • Yup, good groceries for sure. But like CO says, the Columbia is da bomb. Yeah, probably a little expensive these days — a Cuban Sammich was only .75 when I was an undergrad — but man o’ man, I don’t care if it’s 10 bucks anymore. Nobody makes it like them, add a little black bean soup and a cup of Cuban coffee…….light up a good 4.5 x 60 La Flor Dominica Double Ligero Robusto to finish it all off with……Look out Margaret, I’m comin’ to see ya’ darlin’…………..

    2. Congratulations on your daughter getting into UF as a Freshman. My daughter did the same 16 years ago (Special Ed Masters). Thank the Lord for the bright futures program and the four year contract I had with the State of Florida, starting 20 years prior. Still paid for five years of rent, BUT she did it right and made me proud. UF academics is not bragged about enough! Before MO, UF was the ONLY SEC school who is a member of the Association of American Universities! I hope all UF recruiters are making a big deal about us being a AAU school.

I predict football attendance will continue to be a serious issue because of the expense (through the roof) and 65″ TVs. I make really good money, but attending one game from out of town would cost me and the Little Women, +$500 for a Gainesville game (cheap seats). Atlanta +$2000. Not living in Gainesville, attending a game is too expensive! It was a priority entertainment item for me for 19 seasons, but no longer. How much are stadium cokes and hot dog, now?

    3. im going to be slightly more negative than normal, i guess ive been on the road chasing things etc. way too much this week.
what is bugging me is that rivals did not rate our offensive line recruiting in the top ten. that scares me, we are florida and can get athletes for all kinds of things, but offensive line decides how good the team will be imo, more or less. we coach up our guys more than most schools, but not so much on offensive line. this class had the numbers, but we got spanked in offensive line recruiting, which matters more than any other position imo, by tennessee, lsu, bama, etc. , not what i wanted to hear. i know hevesy is an upgrade over the last assistants weve had at OL, but still, we are not OLU, so i’m more nervous now than i was earlier. you wont see an nfl team, or a top ten college team, trying to hire our offensive line coaches like they do on defense.
hopefully i’m wrong again, and maybe we recruited a real leader at the OL group that makes up for a lot of other flaws.

So, it’s Arkansas and Florida that are the schools truly behind U.K., regarding ”basketball schools in the SEC,” i.m.o. And although you didn’t say the words, ”basketball school,” you did ramble on for 4-5 minutes on ”HOW U.F. has bad years,” and we (the fans) should just ”shut up” (your words, Pat, not mine).
So, ‘WHAT IF’ straight-up ”APATHY” hits this Gator Basketball team with regards to us, the fans and Mike White’s teams? I will tell you, sir, you wouldn’t have any CLICKS here on Gatorsports.com. So you all in the media please, please stop telling us (the fans) to ”shut up,” and how ”we just don’t get it!”
Because some of us ”get it” a whole lot more than you all in the media! ”Believe that, bro!”
So ”stop making excuses for U.F. (like you all did w/Coach Mac),” and just print the truth! This team is NOT GOOD! Great ‘D’ on 1 play, NADA on another! This team will end up in the NIT, if they’re lucky!
So put that into your ”Florida’s still ranked 41st…” pipe and smoke it!
