It appears that injured starting safety Chauncey Gardner Jr. will not be out for an extended period of time.

Gardner, who underwent an MRI on Sunday after injuring his knee in the loss to Michigan on Saturday, is considered questionable for Saturday’s game against Northern Colorado, a source close to the situation told The Sun on Tuesday.

Starting tight end DeAndre Goolsby, who also underwent an MRI on Sunday for an unspecified injury incurred in the Michigan game, is highly doubtful for Saturday’s game.

Gardner did not practice Tuesday, but there is a chance he could return on a limited basis today or later in the week. Goolsby is not expected to practice today. He will be re-evaluated later in the week.

  1. Does anyone know why A. Clayton did not play DE at all during the game on Saturday? Was he suspended? Was he hurt? Was he in the doghouse? Did he use a credit card given to him inappropriately or have smoke coming out of his dorm room? Or was all the hype about how much he had come on all summer just that, hype? How can a five-star DE be so bad that he never sees the field? More perplexing questions about what is going on behind the scenes on this team. Someone please step up and take leadership and give this team some positive direction. Please. Meanwhile, Muschamp is thriving in Columbia, and so is his offense, with the same OC he had here. ?????

  2. Oh. And so happy that Gardner is going to be OK. The only time I have smiled the last seven years while watching Florida is when the defense has been on the field and players like Gardner act like they know what they are doing out there.

  3. CG (and DG) need to sit it out and get ready for UT. This is some good news finally. I get the feeling all of these suspended players will be back for the UT game. If not we are in trouble as they are a decent team. Really not sure how good we are? All that summer hype and we fall flat, again.
