Preseason All-SEC offensive tackle Martez Ivey has a nagging injury that will have to be dealt with and monitored over the course of the season, Florida coach Jim McElwain said Wednesday.

“Tez is OK to go,” McElwain said. “We’re going to have to manage that like we did his freshman year. He’ll be ready to go at tackle for us.”

Ivey had to cope with an injured knee in 2015. McElwain has not been specific when addressing Ivey’s current injury, only saying he has missed some practice time with some swelling.

Given Ivey’s situation, starting right guard Fred Johnson is getting some practice reps at left tackle. Johnson,a junior, played some right tackle in his first two seasons, but was moved to guard early last season, with true freshman Jawaan Taylor taking over at right tackle.
