Florida returns to the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic on Dec. 21 and will face Utah State at the BB&T Center in Sunrise. The Gators are 17-3 in 20 all-time appearances in the event.

Utah State posted a 28-7 record in 2018-19 and earned an 8-seed in the NCAA Tournament after winning the Mountain West Conference regular season and tournament championships. The Aggies return four starters, including MWC Player of the Year and AP All-American Sam Merrill and MWC Freshman of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year Neemias Queta.

This marks the 12th regular-season game on UF’s regular-season schedule against a 2019 NCAA Tournament team, with the possibility of adding another at the Charleston Classic.

Florida State and USF will square off in the other game of the doubleheader event.

  1. What a great opportunity to face a team that by name could be easily underestimated, since they aren’t a so-called blue blood program like UK, Duke, UNC, Florida, etc.

I am very much looking forward to the hoops season but can wait patiently while the gridiron hold my attention raptly.

    Go Gators X 2!
