Florida will host Baylor in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on Saturday, Jan. 25.

The Gators are 4-2 all-time in the event, including 3-1 under coach Mike White and 3-0 overall at home. Florida previously hosted Baylor in the 2018 challenge, an 81-60 UF victory, led by Chris Chiozza with 20 points, six rebounds and six assists.

Baylor earned a 9-seed in the NCAA Tournament last season, winning its first round contest vs. Syracuse before falling to Gonzaga. The Bears finished with a 20-14 record and a 10-8 mark in Big 12 action.

Florida has no fewer than 11 regular season games vs. 2019 NCAA Tournament teams on its 2019-20 regular season schedule, including the aforementioned seven at home, with the possibility of adding more at the Charleston Classic and the Orange Bowl Classic.

The Gators bring back three starters from last year’s NCAA Tournament squad, along with a top-10 recruiting class and All-ACC graduate transfer Kerry Blackshear Jr.

The Bears will be one of seven NCAA Tournament teams to visit the O’Connell Center this upcoming season, and season tickets are available now.

  1. The operative word in the headline is “challenge.” This team can be highly competitive and playing (and dominating) such a challenging schedule will be a boost come selection time, far, far down the Road. In the meantime, Gators everywhere are itching to flip the calendar to August! Go Gators!
