WASHINGTON — Police say Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Jalen Mills and Washington Wizards forward Devin Robinson (University of Florida) were arrested after a fight outside a nightclub in Washington.
Karimah Bilal, program manager for the Metropolitan Police Department’s office of communications, wrote in an email to The Associated Press on Saturday that the Mills named in the police report is the Eagles player.
Both Mills, who started eight of 16 games for the Eagles last season, and Robinson, who appeared in seven of the Wizards’ 82 games, were charged with disorderly affray, which generally refers to fighting in a public place.
The Wizards issued a statement saying they were aware of what happened and that the club will not extend a qualifying offer to Robinson for next season. The Virginia native played for the Wizards and their associated G-League team, The Capital City Go-Go.
Robinson only appeared in 22 games this season after injuring his hip during a Go-Go practice in late January. The injury effectively ended his season, and Robinson finished his second professional year averaging 19.9 points on 54.8 percent shooting and 8.1 rebounds for the Go-Go. He appeared in seven games for the Wizards, averaging 6.7 points.
An Eagles spokesman did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment.
Seems harsh for a fight unless there is something we don’t know or they were going to release him anyway and this was just an excuse.
You get arrested and you’re a backup, probably just cost himself a lot of money.
He was arrested for disorderly affray – a misdemeanor. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001026377/article/eagles-db-jalen-mills-arrested-for-disorderly-affray. Sounds like an excuse to get rid of him to me because if he was more valuable they most likely would have kept him for a misdemeanor I think.
Agreed.
