On Monday night, Florida’s 2019 class landed its third commitment with the addition of four-star forward Omar Payne.
Payne, a 6-foot-9 forward/center prospect out of Montverde Academy, verbally committed to UF coach Mike White and the Gators.
100% Committed! Meet me at the swamp! #GoGators 🐊🐊

Ranked the seventh overall prospect from the state of Florida, Payne committed to Florida over offers from Florida State, Ohio State, Louisville and Texas.
Payne’s commitment not only gives White and co. a valuable in-state prospect, but it also provides Florida with a recruiting victory over the Seminoles.
Yes indeed two down (Tre and Payne) and more to go (Cj and Lewis)..
HUGE
Great news! Keep it going coach…you are on a roll!! The future is very, very bright for this program!!!
Big addition great job Coach White and company……. before it’s all set and done we may get a Top 10 Recruiting Class. GO GATORS!!!
Most importantly it gives White a big time power foward/ Center recruit
If it is playing time that Payne wants, it’s P.T. he’ll get it (with so few bigs). I’m digging Coach’s style, this U.F. B-ball program, and finally the legacy at U.F. that Billy ‘D’ built, with Mike White, is now being built back up. Go Gators!
And there were some on here who once said White would never be able to recruit well because he wasn’t a big name coach. I’m sure glad they were wrong. I’m looking forward to this season. It’s really neat when we have basketball and football going on at the same time for a month or so at least, depending on how far the football team keeps it’s season alive. It’s great to be a Gator.
Those knuckleheads failed to acknowledge that White inherited a team coming off a losing record with zero shooters. He had to coach em up, develop talent, and with the winning the recruits would come. I believe he has delivered thus far and should continue as his style of play is very attractive. One of those “guys” went on and on about Virginia’s Tony Bennett being who we should have got and all they did was become the first #1 seed to lose in history…that was priceless!
White has recruited well for the back court positions, which is crucial. Great to see him nab a premier front court player now to go along with them. I think the UF football and men’s basketball programs are in great hands ( baseball and softball too) for the foreseeable future. Let’s go win a few championships!
outstanding. no doubt the latest scandal is changing things in college basketball again, which will help us, although I’m sure some other schools will want our coach!
outstanding. the program looks promising for the upcoming year with more good things coming.
