Florida’s 2019 class added another piece Tuesday night.
Alex Klatsky, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard out of Ranney School in Colts Neck, New Jersey, announced his verbal commitment to coach Mike White and Florida’s 2019 class as a preferred walk-on via his Twitter account.

Klatsky, who took an official visit to Florida over the weekend, holds scholarship offers from Western Kentucky, Niagara University and Seton Hall but opted to commit to the Gators despite the lack of financial aid.
Klatsky is the second prospect to join White and Florida’s 2019 class. Top100 guard Tre Mann committed to Florida on Aug. 29.
Hopefully his buddy Scottie Lewis follows him to Gainesville. That would be a great piece for the Gators. If we can convince Omar Payne and CJ Walker to join the team that would be a top 10 class for sure. Coach White has things headed in the right direction!
These are critical commits to defining a Mike White Gator team.
Welcome to Gatorville Alex!!!
Welcome, get a great education and I hope you will become a resident of Florida. He shows confidence that he will get a better deal with us that a less prominent program.
Welcome to the Gator Nation Alex. You will love UF. Hope you can persuade your classmate Scottie Lewis to join you here.
Well, at least he’s not taking a scholarship from someone. That’s good.
Doing this (out of pocket), and will almost certainly get much less playing time at Florida, instead of accepting a scholarship? Probably made his parents say, “Huh, wtf?!”
Maybe he knows Lewis is coming? Would he have done this with Lewis’ destination immaterial?
Lewis, a five-star would be great. Equally exciting would be for the next signee to be some 6’8″ beast, chock full of attitude!
Actually his parents, specifically his dad Brian Klatsky a UF alum, support their son’s decision to be a preferred walk-on. Klatsky’s decision is fantastic news for Florida in regards to the upcoming decision for his high school and AAU teammate 5-star Scottie Lewis. Brian Klatsky is the coach of their AAU team. It’s a Kentucky-Florida battle.
Welcome to the Gator Nation Alex!
Correction, Brian is the Under Armour team director, not AAU coach.
