Gators open home SEC schedule vs. Gamecocks


Florida’s basketball team will open SEC play with a home game against South Carolina on Jan. 5 and finish it up with a game at Kentucky on March 9, according to the schedule released by the SEC on Friday.

Senior Day will be March 6 — a Wednesday — at home against LSU.

The Gators will travel to Arkansas, Mississippi State, Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama, LSU, Vanderbilt and Kentucky as part of their SEC schedule.

Three times this season, UF will play consecutive games on the road, but only twice play back-to-back games in the conference.

The Gators have the dreaded Saturday-Tuesday games three times. Kentucky visits Gainesville on Feb. 2.
