Chiozza joining Wizards summer league team

Former Florida point guard Chris Chiozza has accepted a NBA summer league invite with the Washington Wizards.

Chiozza, UF’s all-time leader in assists with 571, will be reunited with former Gator teammate Devin Robinson, who was on a two-way contract with the Wizards and their G-League affiliate, the Delaware 87ers, last season. With a strong summer league showing, Chiozza could have a chance to land a similar contract with the Wizards.

The 6-foot Chiozza earned All-SEC and All-SEC defensive honors for the Gators as a senior this past season, averaging 11.1 points and 6.1 assists.

The Wizards have another former Gator in guard Bradley Beal, who was taken No. 3 overall in the 2012 NBA draft and has emerged as one of the top shooting guards in the league.

  1. For Chiozza, this is make it or break it time. Foreign leagues are an option, but remember most foreign teams only get 2 or 3 foreign players on their roster. Egor doesn;t have that problem ’cause he can go right to an Israeli league and make about $300-500K per year. /But it will ever be NBA money. I wish Chiozza well. I, too, was a 6-foot point guard looking that NBA 40 YEARS AGO, AND it didn’t look good for me then. Good luck guys.’
